Exclamation Fruit Diet?

Hi all,

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the 3 day fruit diet.

I'm 26 and my diet changes quite often. I love general fitness and a general diet, but it all go's wrong around twice a week because I like socialising with friends with involves drinking quite heavily which makes my fitness and weight go to pot.

My question is - is it healthy, to detox your body and lose a few pounds, to go on a 3 diet fruit diet, which basically consists of apples, banana's, grapes, grapefruit, smoothies and water?

I must admit I did this last week while I was on a gym and running regime and I felt great. But, again, because of a social event, the weekend consisted of a lot of alcohol which spoilt everything. I really need to stop the great nights out (if I had a girlfriend it would be easier) but I do enjoy the fun.

Your opinion or tips? What about 5 day fruit diets?

this is actually quite an unhealthy idea..you will detox i guess but you will have to go back eating normally...you cannot survive on fruit- you are starving yourself and getting an inadequate amount of calories and nutrients-especially if you are running it off!... just eat balanced meals and a weekend drinking splurge wont harm you. good luck!

No, not at all. There is no evidence to suggest that any of these detox diets will actually "detox" your body, and you will be severly deficient in certain nutrients by going on one.

Personally, I think it can be helping to do some sort of "fasting" or a day (or perhaps more) now and then. I would start by doing is for one day periodically. One day of a restricted regime is not going to do any damage, IMHO. See how it goes from there.

But, I don't think "fasts" are good to use as remedies for bad habits the rest of the time, they are a benefit only in conjunction good habits most of the rest of the time.

I'm going to have to dissagree with you there, there is no evidence to suggest that fasting has any benifit, and there is the obvious problem of a lack of certain nutrients.
