homemade bread calories - Diet & Nutrition Message Board

Ok, so this is a kind of weird question, but i'm wondering how you determine the calories/slice size of homemade bread. the issue that i'm wondering about is how HIGH bread rises up in the middle. so (if all the pieces are cut the same width), do pieces cut from the center have more calories than ones from the end because they're "taller?"

any input would be ultra helpful. i just made some yummy-looking bread, but i'm wondering if i should cut all the pieces the same width (so the center ones would be much taller) or if i should cut them accordingly so they all are approximately the same size overall. (i want the calories of each slice to be equal) much thanks!

Well eventually it should alll even out, there will be a difference between the calories. I don't know how significant it will be if one slice has 57 calories and another has 63 if you eat them all eventually. Just add up all the calories in the ingredients and divide by the number of slices.

I weigh my bread. Unless I have reason to believe the bread is special, I count 70 calories per ounce; that way the air and bubbles don't matter.
Works well for rolls and bagels too.

Sweetened stuff and buttery stuff like briosche are a different ball game though.
