First of all I have been plagued with skin problems (rash, itchy skin) for quite some time. However, it seems to be getting worse over the years
I have been to a naturopath and she suggested a food elimination diet to see if foods were triggers. Well, I did this and did find that after about a week my symtoms (rashes, red patches) and digestive upset did go away. During this cleansing process, I was eating a lot of veggies, fruit and rice. Very occasionally I had organic chicken. However, when I re=introduced other food into my diet, as part of the elimination diet, I found that almost every other food group gave me some troubles. Needless to say, I managed to avoid most of the offending food and continue on.
Now, over the summer, I found my skin troubles and digestive upset getting worse again. Last week, I decided to go another round of the same "detox/elimination diet" plan and see if I couldn't get all of the offending "badies" out of my system and see if I couldn't pinpoint some of the other foods that were giving me troubles.
I have been eating the same diet as I did the first round: fruit, veggies rice, olive oil...taking my vitamins, etc. Now, over the course of this week, something horrible seems to be happening. While with the first detox that I did, I generally felt a little tired, headachey...all part of the detoxing symptoms. But THIS time, I have been plagued with a NASTY, NASTY rash that is going into its 4th day. The rash was really bad all over my body, but is letting up a bit on my legs and stomach. I also have bad bumps/itchy spots on the insides of my elbows. The worst is my neck and FACE...I have these itchy, zitlike bumps all over my cheeks, a bit on forehead and ALL OVER my neck and chest. They are pimple-like, but they itch like crazy and my face is dry. Very strange. I don't want to leave my house!!
I didn't have this happen the first time. Could I be detoxing a lot of horrible stuff out of my body. Also, when will this let up?? My face was absolutely perfecto as of last week, and only started getting really rashy and bumpy about 3 or 4 days into the cleanse.
Is it possible that the rash is being casued by one of the foods that you are assuming to be "safe?" My first guess would be one or more of the fruits because lots of people have various fruit allergies.
Almost NOBODY is allergic to rice.
Why not try a week of only rice, no vitamin pills,...and then go from there.
Of course any number of things could cause rash, sometimes fungal, sometimes contact dermatitis, sometimes systemic illness.
I'd have my GP look at it. I have very little use for "naturopaths" or any self-proclaimed medical "professionals."
Well... *knock on wood* my rash is finally starting to clear up... I see the light!
I think I am detoxing c**p out of my body because I'm starting to feel clearer and lighter all of a sudden and the rash is fading into flakey, white skin everywhere. The skin in my face is clearing up evenly and I slept for about 16 hours last night, which is something I NEVER do.
I've been plagued by skin rashes over the years and seen several doctors and specialists about these rashes. They are not all the same and come and go whenever they feel like it... I've been to my GP, a dermatologist, an allergist, and another specialty allergist. I've had bits of my skin taken for analysis, a skin patch test, as well as allergy testing all over my back to find the culprit. Iíve spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars visiting conventional doctors, and quite honestly, none of them could figure out what was wrong and a lot of them just didnít want to spend the time finding out. I sought out every conventional doctor in the vicinity of where I live that dealt with this type of condition to get my rashes cleared up. Visiting a naturopath was the only thing that gave me relief from my symptoms. However, I was inquiring about my newfound rash this time around as I had not seen that crop up during my first, elimination diet.
Wow, I have dermatological problems, and have been wondering after years of battling rosacea and now Keratosis (skin disorder) if there is not some other underlying cause (like candida which is my new theory)...but mainly wanted to say i think it is terrible the doctors aren't taking your case more seriously, not suggesting other tests to eliminate other possible causes (i.e, kidney or liver problems whereby your body is not producing enough whatever it needs to combat what is causing the excretions). Maybe you are diabetic?? Have you had blood tests for these things? I wish you luck. It must be frustrating...there are many websites discussing skin rashes...maybe they will trigger some clues where others discuss similar symptoms, predispositions, etc...good luck.
Not all naturopaths are self proclaimed professionals. Several people are getting fed up with conventional doctors. That's why the number of people seeking treatment from non-conventional doctors has been increasing every year. Non-conventional doctors have helped many people with their illnesses/health problems, that conventional doctors had no answer for. So I think it was a good thing that cricket went to various doctors, to try and find an answer.
