Protein + Diet Guide

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows a list of foods that are High in protein. I weight train but I also have food allergies that means I seriously miss out on nutrients etc

Also if anyone has a diet guide for me that would be great.

I'm Intolerant to the following foods. Think you can help

Milk Protein.
Wheat.
Yeast.
Vinegar.
Citric.
Coco.
Caffeine.
Corn.
Pepper (Bell + Black).
Barley.
Nuts.

pixie,

Just curiously, how did you find out you were intolerant of all those foods? A naturopath?

Major protein sources outside your list would be meat, fish, eggs, and legumes (beans, peas, lentils, peanuts.)

Talking Re: Protein + Diet Guide

Hiya,

Thanks for the list

I saw a dietitian after being in hospital for a week (bacause of the intolerances). She put me on an exclusion diet where at the beginning all I could eat was rice meat and veg (could drink water only if it was bottled water etc). after following this diet for a month i slowly introduce foods which was 2 a week over 2 days. When I found something that caused the intolerance I stopped for a week to let the intolerance settle and then carry on going.

Took quite a while to get the list but I've never felt so good

I still see the dietitian and in another 6 months I start intoroducing foods that at the minute i'm intolerant to, to see if they still effect me etc

Re: Protein + Diet Guide

Pixie,

I hope you are able to add some of them back because that's an AWFULLY large pile of foods to avoid.
For me, life without pasta, caffeine and cocoa would be unbearable.

She made quite an assumption by pre-supposing no allergy to meat or vegetables????
Usually these diets start out with ONLY rice and water.

Milk PROTEIN eh...what about milk SUGAR??? Usually those sensitive to milk are allergic to lactose rather than to whey or casein.

Cool Re: Protein + Diet Guide

Hiya

It's not too bad. on occasion i might have a sandwich or something (but pay for it later with fainting etc, but it's worth it :P)

It's difficult finding foods and i've preety much given up buying anything that isn't fresh from the shop.

What erally bugs me is that sometimes i fancy roast potatoes but can't be bothered getting the potatoes ready etc. I have to do the work because all the ones in the shops have wheatflour in them (the frozen ones).

I know it's wierd with just milk protein. Lactose doesn't seem to effect me, then again it was the same when i was a baby, i was intolerant to milk then.

Sounds daft but there is a benefit to having food intolerances. I don't consume the preservatives etc that can be found in a lot of food. I read the labels on packaging and there are some ***zar stuff going into food. e.g. Tesco had salad leaves that contained whey?

Also i started exercising because it releives the symptoms and clears the migraines that i get. I know go to the gym and i'll be running up snowdon soon hopefully :P
