Re: PROTEIN: soy vs whey

There's almost no difference in the amino acid composition. But of course, anyone who is a VEGAN can eat only the soy protein...and of course, there are some who think the SOYBEAN was created by Beelzebub himself to poison makind .

The soy tastes a very little more bitter to my taste buds. A couple of the whey products had a disagreeablly grainy testure that was hard to break up even in a shake.

But basically I buy for price and sometimes the bargains are in soy, sometimes whey.

Re: PROTEIN: soy vs whey

Soy Vs Whey a few points on health and not muscle building.......Soy has Phyto-Nutrients to fight cancer and anti aging. On the down side its Phyto-Estrogens may not bode well for us men and also thyroid questions.

Whey is very high in Cysteine which raises Glutathione in the body which is the master antioxidant in our body. On the down side it has Gammaglobulins which some believe could cause Multiple Sclerosis and other auto immune diseases.

Re: PROTEIN: soy vs whey

I prefer the whey, personally. I just find it to be a better, more complete source of protein. Soy contains estrogen, and being a man, I try not to overdo that hormone. I do eat my share of soy though, as it does have many benefits.

Of course, like Lenin said, a vegan would not take whey, because it contains dairy.

Sorry, but I can find nothing to verify the statement regarding Whey and Gamma Globulins. In fact, nothing to connect the 2 at all. Sounds very odd to me.

It is however connected to Immunoglobulins, however which is a very POSITIVE thing. Perhaps you got the 2 confused.

Whey proteins also have all the essential amino acids and in higher concentrations compared to various vegetable protein sources such as soy, corn, and wheat gluten. It is a complete protein containing all 8 essential amino acids as well as 7 non- essential ones.

Unfortunately soy shakes are processed using hexane and other toxic chemicals to make it usable in order to drink it, which are dangerous. And..the body does not absorb the protein in soy as it would whey.

If you are a body builder, whey would be preferable, but.........if you are a vegetarian, all this would be moot. Although some do eat dairy, and you may or may not.

All in all, it's a choice of taste, too.
