what are some of the foods I can eat?

My nutritionist put me on a low carb, no sugar, no white foods like sugar, pasta, potatoes, etc., no fruit, no milk products, no diet drinks unless sweetened with Splenda. I know I can eat meats, eggs, and veggies. And he said that I can eat wheat bread. Are there any sugar free condiments out there like ketchup, salad dressing, etc that I can eat. Also, what can I eat if I get the sweets craving? This is all new to me, and it seems so restricted. I know it will help me thought and will pay off in the long run.

Your nutritionist put you on this diet?
Do you have a medical condition that requires a low carb diet?

Re: what are some of the foods I can eat?

I did the low carb diet for a few months and I have a major sweet tooth. I would eat sugar-free fruit flavored gelatin when I got a craving for sweets. But you can also make peanut butter cookies or almond cookies (you'll need almond flour for these, which are just finely grind almonds). You can even make low carb cheesecake. You'll have to google for the recipes of the low carb versions of these sweet treats.

Re: what are some of the foods I can eat?

i am on a low carb lifestyle and i eat a lot of different things. I dont eat meat so i eat meatless products which you should check out even if you do eat meat because they taste good and there are a lot to choose from. I eat tons of veggies, cheese, eggs. For the sweet tooth-diet soda, sugar free gum, candy, jello, low carb bars and shakes, sugar free chocolate. [removed]

Re: what are some of the foods I can eat?

You should be able to have

1) 1-2 oz serving of nuts, cashews are the only high carb(high sugar) nut to avoid.
2) 1/2 cup serving of berries which are all very low, with whip cream or cool whip which is high fat but low in sugar.
3) Salad dressing like Italian, Blue cheese, oil and vinegar, some brands of Caesar dressing, or mayonaise. Thousand Island is full of sugar as is the Kraft coleslaw dressing.
4) Presidents choice makes great low carb catsup, low or zero carb syrup (great on whole wheat french toast) also it's hard to find but there is all kinds of low carb products out there like the Atkins bake mix which uses Soy protein Isolate to make an inadequate muffin etc lol. HOWEVER some may have Aspertame which you are avoiding!
5) cheese! You can bake it into crisps, melt it over seafood or eggs, put it on a ww cracker or eat it plain!
6) Some Thai food like Tom ka Gai or Panaange(sp?) both made with coconut milk, vegies and meat.

For snacks I make

1) tuna salad in a romaine lettuce boat
2) devilled eggs or egg salad (you can have ww bread so you're lucky but if you're trying to lose weight then more than 2 pieces a day will stop any w loss.)
3) a fun platter of deli meat, cheese, pickles, smoked salmon, olives, with a handful of ww crackers
4) homemade beef jerky (check store bought for sugar).
5) seafood and cheese stuffed baked mushrooms or green peppers
6) "3 layer jello" where I use the sugar free jello and make 3 diff layers letting it solidify between layers of course. Then I put it in a bowl with a handful of raspberries, pour cream over top and sprinkle with a little splenda and it's a wicked sweet and pretty snack. Yum! Will think of other ideas...
