| Re: Thoughts on sea vegetables, such as kelp?
I've tried a couple different seaweeds that I bought in Chinese groceries over the years, I usually chop them up and cook them into chicken broth with perhaps some dried mushrooms, tofu, some snow peas...whatever I have around.
Often I stir in an egg for an "egg-drop."
Anyone whose ever had sushi rolls (like California roll) has eaten the wrapping which is seaweed.
They generally taste kind of innocuous and sometimes have something of a gelling effect.
Thanks for reminding me...I have a dried pile of seaweed sheets in the pantry for ages...I'll do something with a couple sheets this weekend. The label says DRIED SEAWEED and 4 big Chinese letters, so I don't know whether its kelp, combu, or nori.
