Hello all,

A health food store just opened up near my house, and I'm trying to figure out if their claims regarding Ostrich and Bison meat (that they're lower than beef in fat, calories, and cholesterol, and higher in protein, iron, and omega-3's) are true.

After only a little research, I found many sites proclaiming these two unusual meats to indeed be superior in all of these ways. Then I eventually got to the USDA nutrition site, where I found that it's not quite so simple (depending on what cut of beef you go with, it can have more protein and WAY less cholesterol than than the other two: As in, 58mg for beef, 72mg for bison, and 80mg(!!) for Ostrich).

Can anyone shed some light on this? Are all those sights proclaiming ostrich and bison meat superior just a bunch of garbage? Alternatively, could someone point me to the proper forum for this question...?
