Son's jaw wired shut! - Diet & Nutrition Message Board

So, the dog ran into my 14 yr old son, knocking him to the ground, fracturing his jaw. He now has it wired shut for the next 4 weeks.
He has been eating pudding, milkshakes, Ensure, and lots of baby food. Short of trying to puree a steak and eggs (YUCK!) anyone have any other suggestions, especially for more protein? Also, note that he is not a big peanut butter fan so pb & banana shakes are out. (I have had several people at work suggest that.)
On a good note for him, he has somehow become Mr Popular by carrying baby food to school for lunch. Who knew?! LOL!!!

Pureed soups - maybe starting with ground meat (beef, turkey, etc.) or canned fish and veggies/legumes; or potato with yogurt/ricottaand other stuff.

Yeah, I've been doing mashed potatoes with teeny tiny pieces of ham and extra milk. Whatever he has needs to be able to fit through closed teeth, so that really limits a lot of yummy options when it comes to meat/protein.
Dairy can only be tolerated to a certain degree even on the best tummy.

What about protein shakes? Muscle Milk is a pretty good tasting one.

Perhaps mashed beans (like how refried beans are)?

Maybe something with soy milk or soft tofu if he is tired of milk?

Or just put whatever food in a blender and puree it? Chicken etc. might not sound very appetizing pureed, though.

Most protein powders or shakes are whey (milk) or soy based.

For vegetables, perhaps gazpacho soup and mashed sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and squash?
