Gaining Weight from Food

A friend of mine are having a debate. Theoretically if you could eat a certain amount of food be it 2 lbs, 5 lb, whatever it may be do you gain that weight in your body weight right away after consuming that food?

Re: Gaining Weight from Food

I am not a professional, however, it seems to me if you eat or carry in your arms 2 or 5 lbs extra the scales will show that weight plus your body weight.

If you weigh after the body has processed the food and eliminated the waste, part of it used for fuel, the scales will reflect the remaining whatever that might be.

Everyone does not process food the same way, some use more for fuel than others, some get rid of more food in form of waste than others.

Re: Gaining Weight from Food

E=mc2 In other words, energy (and mass) is not created or destroyed. If you take in two pounds of material onto your body you will add two pounds to your body weight. Until you either burn it as energy or excrete it through waste its yours. Luckily, most foods are burned as energy and not continually added to our bodies.
