Are there any non-grain based sources of fibre?

I need to find some source of fibre that doesn't spike my blood sugar. Starchy cereals really spike my levels so i can't tolerate all-bran, bran flakes etc. are there any non-starchy forms of fibre i could try.

i eat plenty of green fibrous vegetable like broccoli and Brussels sprouts but that doesn't seem to be enough, if you get what i mean?

Beans and lentils.
Whole fruit.

Also, plain oatmeal tends to have a lower GI than most dry cereals, so it may not be as problematic for your blood sugar as most dry cereals.

I'll look into oatmeal but I can't tolerate fruits, any longer.

Could you try a packaged fibre supplement, such as Metamucil or Normacol?
