Unable To Swallow Anything...

I'm not sure if this should have been posted here, or in another place. Like, something related to throat or stomach problems. If so, I apologize.

A few weeks ago... say, maybe a month or two? I had suddenly been unable to properly chew and swallow corn. It just came on all of a sudden. So I thought, "Well okay, I can't eat corn anymore. No big deal."

But it started to progress a week later. Pretty soon, it became impossible to eat anything. I have no idea why. Nothing's been changed. I haven't gotten really sick or anything. But I can't swallow much of anything. I've been living off of whipped potatoes (because they're smoother), soup, crackers even very slowly, poptarts eaten very slowly (takes over an hour to eat them) and pancakes.

I had just been eating one bowl of mashed potatoes one day, then soup the next, for a week and ended up losing weight from it. Good thing for me, cuz I'd like to lose some weight, but I know that losing weight from not eating is unhealthy.

Now, keep in mind, I hardly ate much to begin with. Only one to two small meals a day. The only meat I can eat is chicken. Fish is do-able, but still difficult to eat. Pancakes are okay, but only if cooked in a certain way. French toast, no. Fruit, no. Vegetables, no. I can't eat anything I like anymore and tend to go throughout each day with a very dull, constant "hunger" feeling in my stomach, but I can't do anything about it.

When I can't eat something... not to be gross, but... I tend to move it around in my mouth a lot, and then attempt to swallow, but each time I try, I just can't. I end up spitting out 95% of the food I try to eat.

Perhaps its an issue with thinking I'll choke? I don't know. Any ideas?

EDIT: The issue with eating corn started nearly 2 months ago. I had extreme toothache issues that never went away for about 5 days straight. Took antibiotics. After that, I couldn't eat anything. If that says anything...?

And I do try to keep as healthy as possible, by drinking at least one, 10oz. fruit smoothie each day.

Re: Unable To Swallow Anything...

You need to go to the doctor and get it checked. There may be a constriction in your esophagus. A gastroenterologist can do an endoscopy and check it out for you. Take care
