Please Help !!! - Digestive Disorders Message Board

I have been on Nexium for almost a month now and it is not helping my throat symptoms at all....I still have the pressure like I need to burp..my throat is not sore or anything but this feeling is driving me crazy. The only things that helps is eating,drinking or sucking on hard candy.
What else can I do? How long should I give the Nexium a try before I tell the Dr. it's not working? Could it be something else? Should I see an ENT?
I have had this now going on 2 months...Please any advice would be appreciated !!

Also, the right side of my thyroid had a 4.5cm nodule that was discovered when I first asked the Dr about these symptoms...if it is being caused by that..I wouldnt have the pressure and feeling like I need to burp constantly would I?

Nexium is a type proton pump inhibitor that does not take long to work several days to a week at most-- you should be getting results.

I think you need to contact you Doctor certainly a month is long enough!!!

You know a 4.5 cm nodule is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter -- it seems to me that it could readily cause a restriction and not let any gas that needs to be burped pass from your stomach up your esophagus. But, it certainly does depend on what the nodule is pressing on whether you have a constant feeling of trapped gas???

Thanks Harry !! I was reading some from the archives and I ran across someone who had similiar symptoms and it turned out they had H.Pylori so I will talk this over with my Dr. as well....
