| Reflux, Fear of Strictures
I had reflux 11 years ago. The doctor didn't diagnose it with a name but I know now that's what it had to be. I took Zantac for about a month and it went away and I was symptom free until last year. I took Prevacid in August for 2 weeks, the symptoms stopped and started again in February. I took Prevacid now for 8 weeks, hoping to heal whatever esophageal erosions might have occurred.
I should not have diagnosed myself and am seeing the GI dr. tomorrow. He wanted to do an endoscopy in August and I was too scared. Since reflux can be "silent", maybe all of these years it was hurting me. My throat is sore every now and then and I have the lump feeling in my throat now even after 5 days of Prevacid. I know it takes longer than that to work and I have also read what causes the lump feeling, too technical to explain but the bottom line is that I am petrified that I may have done so much harm, erosions, healing, scar tissue, that I have strictures. I know nobody diagnose me over this board and I know strictures take long to develop but I did have this 11 years ago so maybe it's been since then without knowing it.
I do know strictures cause pain on swallowing which I don't have. Here is my question: has anyone had the lump on the throat feeling, throat soreness, reflux coming up into their throat and burning like hell and had a NORMAL endoscopy?
