I have had acid reflux since I was 20, I'm 24 now. I've been on PPI's for 3 years now, most notably Nexium for almost half of that time. Nexium worked perfectly at the start, I could eat almost anything again with no symptoms......then it started to not work as well.....and I started to wonder about long term effects. Funny how none of the doctors mentioned long term problems.
I only took half of a 40mg pill this morning and am going to take Mg, we'll see how this goes. I am going back to a specialist sometime soon and I'm hoping that he won't suggest more PPI's - first of all I've tried them all, second of all I'd rather treat the cause rather than the symptoms.
Anyways sorry for the ramble but I don't know anyone who has the same problems as me and suddenly I stumble upon this board.....I'm not so weird after all....kind of exciting really (in a not so good way I suppose) | Have you tried magnesium supplements ,yet? If so, have they helped? I'm 29 and have just recently been experiencing severe symptoms. H2 blockers seem to help. I have some nexium. But, I really don't want to take it.
