The test ( Gastric Emptying Study) show that I have very slow digestion which cause of the GERD and the feeling like something stuck in my throat.....can someone give me some input???? what medication, vitamin or herbal can make food digest faster beside REGLAN ( which I can't take beacause of the terrible side effect) thanks all

I have gastroparesis which is slow digestion due to partial or complete paralization of the stomach. It results in nausea, vomiting, loss of apetit, feeling full after a few bites, and some peoepl who suffer from gastroparesis may become home bounded for months at a time and have loss of their quality of life. I hear that Metoclopramide is very helpfull. Its helps triger stomach ativity. I am only on Diclectin which is often used to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

I have read that reglan can cause bad side effects which seems to be the case for you. I don't know of herbs that may help but I have read that eating smaller amounts throughout the day (meaning not your normal big 3 meals but several smaller meals may help). There are other methods such as some sort of electric stimulation (not offered widely) but may help. You will need to do some research on that. But as you probably know by now, slow gastic emptying is basically your stomach isn't contracting like it should to break down the food fast enough to allow for passage to your small intestine and finish the digestive process. Your food basically sits in your stomach allowing the food to ferment and cause problems. Do a search on google (may favorite) or another search engine on herbs that may help and you may find something. You may also want to consider seenig a licensed nutritionist for help. I am sorry to say that slow gastric emptying is a difficul problem but be tough and look for help in other areas besides the medical field. Godd luck and keep us posted. Take care!
