Green tea and gastritis

I have been diagnosed with Gastritis. I have read all over the internet that Green Tea prevents Gastritis and prevents gastritis from becoming stomach cancer. Does green tea help cure gastritis as well as preventing it? Is there a particular brand of green tea that is best? What about green tea tablets or extract? Are they as effective?

Hey I dont no about the tablets or the extract. You basically want to stay away from the caffiene if you drink it.
I have heard Green Tea works I even tried it when i was at my sickest and I dont beleive it helped any.
I have an open thread here on the board of a conversation between me and someone else and we basically talk about our diets.

What was your gastritis from?

Re: Green tea and gastritis

I love green tea and understand it is good for a LOT of what ails us, or preventing what can cause us grief.

If you are concerned about caffeine, you can always get decaffeinated green tea. Just about all brands make it -- there are at least four or five versions of decaf green tea in my local markets.

Also, you can try chamomile tea -- always good for settling the digestive tract AND the nerves. Even that one comes in decaf version.

I think green tea is acidic and will irritate your stomach, at least that is what it did to me. I agree with cheer_up, try drinking chamomile tea or other herbal teas.
Hope that helps
