Hi Harry, Could you please tell me what brand of mastic gum you used in the past(if thats ok with the rule on this board)? I had H pylori before that was eradicated by antibiotic treatment. However, I still have gastritis, that causes me lot of buring, belching and gas (but H pylori is definitely gone and it was confirmed by endoscopy). Do you think that mastic gum might help me?
Dan is right I like and use Mastica by Allergy Research Group. I take 2 caps twice daily between meals and it helps me with gastritis/ stomach inflammation.
I get gastritis every time I take an antibiotic and I have used it several times but you also have to take a probiotic supplement while you're taking the Mastisca. The latest was a Urinary tract infection with Amoxicillin.
I also have a condition(hyperaldosteroneism) that requires me to take alot of potassium-daily and it is a very caustic mineral when taken in large doses and mastica seem to work for the stomach inflammation condition I get from that also!!
Harry, Thank you so much for your reply. In one of your posting you mentioned that in your case efficacy of mastica gum was confirmed by
endoscopy. Is it possible that your H pylori was eradicated by some other antibiotics that you took before and it was not really mastic gum?
I never took Mastica for H.pylori bacteria infection. I took it for gastritis and inflammation of the stomach in 2001. It was given by an alternative care MD.
This was not being helped by several PPIs-- Prilosec, Prevacid and Aciphix that had been given by a Gastro Doctor for several months. The endoscope tests before and after were done by the GI doctor.
I took an antibiotic for H.pylori in 1997--- the first one approved in the USA to get rid of the H.pylori bacteria--- and it was Biaxin--by Abbott Labs --3 times daily for 3 weeks. The cure was later confirmed by a breath test.
