My husband tried Manuka honey for excessive acid and it seems to have relieved his symptoms somewhat. I can't remember exactly how much of it he took because we haven't done it for some time now but if you do a search on the Internet, you should be able to find how to do it. There seems to be an all around good feedback for it from sufferers of digestive problems, so I'd give it a go esp. seeing as it seems to be harmless but by all means do consult your doctor just in case you're allergic to honey or something like that. Best of luck.
I'd like to know this too...my stomach and left side have been bothering me for a month and I don't go to the doc til next thursday....would like some relief.
Did your gastritis come back or do you think you have an ulcer?
Take care and thanx for the good advice in the past!!
I know how my gastro system reacts with an ulcer-- so I don't have that!!
It seems that I get gastritis or a yeast/candida infection every time I take an antibiotic for several weeks or so. Also, if it's a broad spectrum or strong antibiotic like amoxicillin or flagyl. But everyone is different with a different constitution??
I guess I took so much over the years with diverticulitis before I had a colon resection-- I guess my GI tract is not as good as I would like it to be!!!
And I am no spring chicken --- August6,2005 is my 50th Wedding Anniversary!! Age takes it's toll.
If your problem is on the left side -- I think it would be a colon problem because that is where your sigmoid colon is located -- from just beneath the ribs to your rectum and that is about 8" long.
Most people's stomach is more on the right side and above the naval toward the right side rib cage. What is so unusully most pictures show the stomach like a balloon on the left but it really is flat until you eat or drink something!!
Just re-read your last post on here, CONGRATULATIONS on your anniversary!!! That's quite an accomplishment in this day and age! Hows the gastritis? Does it take long to go away, and did you find the honey to help it?
I buy Mastic Gum online but I think it is pretty expensive in Canada.
The first time I used it was in 2001 and it was prescibed by an MD(Alternative Care Doctor) and in 2 weeks the gastritis I had was cured. It just so happened that a GI Doc had scheduled an Endoscopic exam 6 month previously and had given me Aciphex and Prilosec that did not help for 3 or 4 months!!
