Hi everyone,
I just had my CT scan performed (about 2 hours ago) with 20 ounces of liquid contrast... is it normal to have many cases of watery diarrhea afterwards? How long does this last? I was told it would take 24 hours for everything to come out of my system - will I really be running to bathroom for the next 24 hours?
Thanks Legend Stud, it was nearly 24-hours and then they stopped. You said your CT was normal - did you end up having to do a colonscopy? What was the final outcome in your diagnosis? Just curious, I have the same thing with continuous loose/soft stools... I have a colonscopy next month just to rule out all diseases... THANKS!
Hi Carebear...I had my ct yesterday and today my stool is yellow/gold!!! (but no diarrhea, just had one little bout with that yesterday am) The nurse said it could take awhile for it to get out of my system. And the results were diverticulosis...gotta make an appt with a gastro next week and go from there...but thats all they found!!
Hope yours went as smoothly as mine. Take care

Hey Conni, thanks - the "runs" went away immediately after the 24-hour winow Anyway, I'm very surprised you were able to get diagnosed so quickly??? I still haven't gotten my results back - which I was told today that it would be Saturday. Whatever, I wish I had my results! Well, 1awesomegranny - looks like you've been diagnosed, which (in my opinion) it's the best thing that could have happened. Now, you can control it and hopefully get back to yourself... Take care, let me know what happens at the gastro doc...
Yes, when I had mine done, I had the contrast (tasty stuff ) also Barium. I had the most intense stomach cramps of my life, and that is saying something. Also, passed what looked like mashed up Play Dough for 2 days after. Be thankful, it could have been alot worse.
Hi Carebear...
I had mine done at a hospital, and the way I understand it, the radiology Doctor there reads it within 24 hours and the results are posted verbally where my doctor can call and get the results. He won't get the "hard" copy of my report until probably Monday. There's probably alot of variables...you may live in a bigger, busier city or perhaps a smaller one...but I will keep you posted on the gastro doc, I would expect the appt won't be for a month or so.
Take care, good results for you too!!
Conni
Yes, i have a colonoscopy scheduled for the 25th. loose/soft stools, abdominal pain, feels like my muscles are tight in my stomach, just general discomfort. been going on for a while so want to find out what it is.

Legend_stud... sounds similar to what I have.... do you also get (at times) constipated even after a BM or sharp gas-like pains on the sides of the abdomen that travels to your mid-back??
1awesomegranny... how are you doing? Has your doctor given anymore information (treatment, etc.)?? Is it for sure diverticulotis? I still haven't heard anything on my ct scan - I think because my gynecologist ordered the test and perhaps he hasn't given it to the specialist... I guess "no news is good news" pops in my head - if there was abnormality present, I'm sure (or at least hope) I'd have heard something by now...
Carebear...I'm doing okay, more better days than bad. I have a gastro appt on the 31st but no, my gp hasn't given me any more treatment, there really is none for diverticulosis except watching my diet to prevent it from getting inflamed and infected and turning into diverticulitis. I got my report from the hosp in the mail and it said everything else (kidneys, spleen, pancreas, lungs, etc) were unremarkable and told where the diverticulosis was. I'm sure the "no news is good news" is right, but if it bothers you, call your gyno and ask for the results, they surely have them by now.
I am going to tell this gastro that all my tummy trouble started after a round of flagyl 2 years ago and go from there. I'll let you know how that appt goes take care,

Yes, some constipation after bm but not really gas pains in the back. Just in my abdominal area. My abdominal area is tender all over sometimes. I am taking primal defense to see if that works and it seems to help a little but only on it 2 weeks. Hopefully it will get better. For some reason I think it is a muscular thing sometimes but have no idea. driving me crazy all day every day.
