getting some help ,finally and a question.

my pharmasist also has stomach trouble ,i was not getting much help for relif .i talked to her and found out i can take zantac 150 ,prilosec and ssucralfate with out any drug interactions . here is what im doing ... 1 prilosec otc at 7:00 pm ,sucralfate at bed time & a zantac 150 first thing in the morning . i do think the acid drugs stop working ?. seems like the body builds a tolerance to them ,anyone else think that . dont see how you could get a tolerance to sucralfate though .

I agree. Every PPI I have used (almost all) have stopped working at one time. I find that stopping for a week and then starting again gets it working. I couldn't take Sucralfate because it caused alot of stomach cramping and made my nausea worse.
Good Luck, I hope they work for you!

how long did they work for you ?. i wish i could have figured that out a few years ago ,the doctors sure dont say anything about that., but then they dont really seem to care when you come in with stomach trouble .,or for me anyway . thanks for replying.

Re: getting some help ,finally and a question.

I am taking 40 mg Pantoloc(Protonix) right now. They usually work for about 2 weeks and then stop and the nausea comes back. I stop taking them for a week (the heartburn and nausea in that time is HORRIBLE) and then start again and it works. I have found that avoiding anything irritating to my stomach works good as well. Like spices, acidic juices, tomatoes, caffeine, etc.
Alot of dr.s chalk digestive issues up to IBS, GERD or it's "all in your head", when alot of the times it's something more and they don't want to spend the time finding out. Been there, done that!
