belly still very swollen 5 days after gastroscopy?

Does anyone know if it's normal to still have a lot of air in your intestines and stomach 5 days after a gastroscopy?I had it done 5 days ago to get botox injected in the muscle of my stomach. This was done to improve the motility problems of my stomach. But my belly has never been this swollen before!

Having your stomach swollen after a scope exam is not normal.
What is the botox suppose to do? Make your motility faster or slower?

Re: belly still very swollen 5 days after gastroscopy?

It is to relax the muscle so the food will go down to the intestines faster. They did this because they saw in a previous gastroscopy that even though i hadn't ate anything since 7 the night before, my stomach was still full of food. Apparently this is quite common for diabetics (which i am). My doctor told me afterwards that it was difficult to get to the muscle in my case as my stomach is positioned quite unusual. It's 6 days ago now and my belly has never been this badly swollen i'm starting to worry!

This condition is called -- gastroparesis -- you can do a search on Google at the top of this page and find many sites that tell about the symptoms and treatment.

Re: belly still very swollen 5 days after gastroscopy?

Yeah it's for gastroparesis, so i always suffer from quite severe bloating. But it's much worse since the gastroscopy and botox injection. Wonder if it will be because of the botox or because of the air they filled into my stomach to see better? And if it will disapear by itself? Thanks for your advice by the way
