CT vs MRI for abdominal pain.. opinions please

Just out of curiosity... would an MRI be just a effective for scanning the internals, i.e. pancrease, liver, etc? I am scheduled for a CT, but I've had so many X-rays lately, I'd really like to avoid it if possible...

an MRI is more complex than a CT.. CT is the easier and quicker test to go through. It will show more detail than a traditional X-Ray.
