Hi, there. I've had 6 endos done in the last 7 years, so I can tell you - it's no big deal. Along with numbing spray for the gag reflex, you might get demarol (to sedate you) and versad (causes amnesia for the procedure) and you won't remember a thing. Then you "wake up" and go home. You might feel groggy for the day, but I was able to eat normally about 30 minutes later. My throat is usually sore for the day from the scope and spray. It will show if your esophagus and/or stomach is inflamed, and biopsies can be taken to determine other digestive diagnoses.
