I have IBS so I'm used to unusual bowel movements. I had some loose stools today, which isn't unusual for me since I don't eat particularly well. But tonight, I had actual oil in my stool. There was grease floating on the water in the toilet. Not to be gross, but orange, like what you would squeeze off a really greasy piece of pizza. lol I've never experienced this before. Should I be concerned?
Oil in the stool is from excess fat. Did you eat a particularly fatty diet before you had this stool? If not you could be having some problems with malabsorption. I was having "floaters" and oil in my stool before I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, they put me on pancreatic enzymes and all is normal again in that area. I think there are several different illnesses that can cause malabsorption. If it continues you should probably seek medical advice... hope that helps some
Thanks! Like I said, I don't eat particularly well. I know what I can and can't eat, and what's going to make my IBS flare up. The only thing out of the ordinary that I ate in the past few days was cashews. I bought a can on my lunch at work and ate almost half the can. lol They were so good! But I was thinking maybe that did it? Cause I know they are very high in fat. I noticed today there was a little bit of oil again, but MUCH less, and it was clear this time, not orange like it was yesterday. I definitely will go to the doctor if it continues.
