will weight loss eliminate GERD symptoms?

i have a hiatal hernia that's causing acid reflux and nausea (i think...cuz i also have diverticulosis) i am short 5 ft. 6 in. and i weigh 180 lbs. if i shed at least 30-40 lbs. will the hiatal hernia go away? please let me know.

i'm totally at wits end. i'm feeling hopeless and slightly depressed.
i don't know if i concentrate on treating the hernia will i aggravate the diverticulosis and vice versa. someone tell me what i must do. what's good for me, what's bad for me?

A hiatal hernia is at the center of rib cage just under the cartledge and diverticular problems happen in your colon at the other end of your digestive system.

The diver can be treated by taking a water soluble fiber supplement 2X daily. So your stool is regular w/o straining.

Hiatal hernias are treated with anti- spasm type of drugs and a bland type diet and possible acid reducing drug like a ppi.

By the way weight loss always helps problems-- all types!!
