endoscopy done today!!!

Hi all. I had an endoscopy done this morning. I previously had a CT/Ultrasound done which showed a pseudocyst of the pancreas. so the the next step was the endoscopy.

They took some fluid (aspiration?) and was told that the biopsy results should be back in a 2 week period of time. also to my understanding there is a hiatus hernia in the stomach.

Can any explain the aspiration to me and the hiatis hernia. What does it mean and what is done for it?

I am totally lost on what all this means.

Thanks for listening.

Re: endoscopy done today!!!

Hi

I think the aspiration means to take fluid to check for infection and other stuff.
A hiatus Hernia is when the stomach get pushed through the diaphram caused by many reasons such as lifting objects, vomiting, injury etc. etc. If it is small they usually do not treat it but if its large they may have to do surgery

I need to have an endo done as well what were your symptoms.

Take care and have a great holiday

Re: endoscopy done today!!!

Marsha:

I had the endoscopy done for the following reason. I was having some abnormal blood work regarding a kidney matter. So I went thru a CT/doppler of the kidney and abdomen. The ultrasound showed that I had something what turned out to be a pseudocyst on the pancreas. It was a matter of doing more testing on the pancreas to see what was going on.

The symtoms that I eventually developed included a bloating type of feeling, some nausea/vomiting were the main symptoms that I had.

Not sure at this point as to what they plan on doing about the problem with pancreas. I guess will know more after the biopsy comes back.

Anyway, have a great week end. It's going to be hot and humit here on the east coast. Ugh, I don't like humidity.
