5yr old gut problems - help? - Digestive Disorders Message Board

Hi all. Just wondering if any one may be able to steer me in the right direction. My 5 yr old has a few problems. At the momment the one we are concerned about is his stomach. History: severe reaction to DTP at 2 months, severe projectile vomiting as infant, also reflux, failure to thrive, now multiple allergies, severe asthma, excema, abnormal heart beats (no obvious cause), autism.
He doesnt eat much at all, he weighs about 12kg. His stools as an infant were very watery and almost green, as he grew (3 up) they became more solid but they have always smelt terrible. His stools now are very very huge. Larger than any adults would be and still stink to high heaven. Any suggestions? Thanks

Your son and you have certainly had a tough time. My niece has PDD, we all assume it was from her DPT shot since there was obvious change in her at that time.
She, too, has allergies, skin problems, but no gastro problems.

We have friends whose son was small, sickly..etc. He was diagnosed with celiac disease, and I believe he was also lactose intollerant. He also has since been diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes. He's 12 now and doing well. The aside, the parents have lost weight from not eating grains with meals.

Have you had food allergy testing done for him? I don't know what's involved with celiac testing..but elimination of foods could give you some insight as to whether his gastro problems are food related.

I hope you're able to get a definite diagnosis soon.

This really does sound as if it is all related to the vaccines that your son had. I am also not surprised that he has ended up with stomach problems after having a polio vaccine, as this lives in the gut for up to 6 weeks after being vaccinated and is still excreted in the stools, so you need to be careful during this time.

By all means, get him allergy tested and there is always the possibility of celiac spru, however, as this seems to be directly related to the vaccines, I would strongly suggest that you take him to see an ND (Naturopathic Doctor) for a full assessment. They would be able to help him better and more naturally.

THUJA is one homeopathic remedy that is extremely good for clearing ill effects from vaccines, even at this late stage and probably your son would come under the category of 'Never Well Since' vaccines. So, this line of treatment would be very good for him and kids respond extremely well to homeopathy as they have such good vitality.

Thanks for your replies, I had wondered about celiac, as I have some stomach problems myself. I got myself tested to see, so he wouldnt have to go through that, but I was negative, they said mine is more likely to be iritable bowel syndrome. My sons however may be celiac, or I had wondered about malabsorbtion or a structural bowel problem. We have been referd for an ultrasound, will update if they find anything. Thanks again.

I would still say that these problems have been caused by a result of the vaccines.
