Question can i use something else?

Hi,just ran out of my samples for protonix cannot afford to get the precription filled right now no insurance ive been taking it for 2 weeks am i going to have like a rebound effect if i stopped and is there any OTC drugs i can use and just double up on to have same effect as the precription ones.Thanks

Also is there a generic for protonix and is the price difference that much???

Prilosec is available over the counter now. I don't know how much it cost. Also, I believe Tagamet and Zantac work to decrease acid production. You may want to call your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

I've found the price of most prescription acid blockers to be expensive, even generics. If I where you I would explain the situation to your Dr. and just ask for more samples. Trust me, they have plenty. Ask what they suggest for a long term solution for your problem. I've been there before. Feel better soon.
