Feels like stomach is caving in - Digestive Disorders Message Board

Last night a part of my stomach felt so tense that it felt like it was caving in. Has anybody else had this problem of felt this? And it woke me up and it did not feel good. I guess it felt like a muscle cramp that one would get in their leg or arm. It did not feeel good at all.

Did it feel like you were starving?
Was it your upper abdomen? I feel all the time
like that if thats what you are feeling.
Right now I am going through a relapse of
pretty bad reflux - burping constantly, coughing,
clearing the throat and my stomach is hurting.

This is the first time I've heard of anyone sharing my symptoms of feeling like I'm starving even though I've eaten regularly. I, too, feel like my stomach has "caved in" on itself, which also gives me tremendous back pain around both the rib cage and the very low back. I have no clue as to what this is, but it is very disturbing and has made me end up in the ER already. What causes this?
