About 2 weeks ago, i noticed that my shoulder was hurting a lot. I can't really describe the pain, it's kind of like there's a small tear in the muscle or something, and there's something warm and itchy running through it. I had a similar pain at the back of my head off and on for a few months awhile ago. It comes and goes during the day.
The oddest thing about this pain is that it appears to be triggered by the exact same things that trigger my acid reflux. Have you ever heard about anything like this? Is it just collateral pain, or is my Acid Reflux (or medication, perhaps) causing some other sort of damage?
Anyhow, if any of you have heard of anything like this, please let me know. Thank you.
I have ran a support group for families living with reflux since April 2002. In that time, I have never heard anyone else complain of shoulder pains.
One thing with reflux is, if you are having an episode, perhaps you hold yourself to control the pain and that brings on the ache etc or it could be that you have another condition, whereas reflux is a symptom rather than the initial diagnosis.
For example, hypermobility, fibromyalgia fall into this catergory, along with CF, Down's syndrome or any other condition that lowers the muscle tone.
I would suggest getting a doctors opinion just in case.
I don't know, it seems to have gone away. Perhaps I was just out of shape, I've been rollerblading 10 miles every day since monday, and it's been getting progressivly better.
Maybe it was related to alergies or something else, and the symptoms were coincidental.
Maybe I just strained it doing push-ups (which I haven't had the time to do for over a week due to class starting up again).
Thanks for the info, though. I'll look into those conditions if it acts up again.
