Post no movement in HIDA scan

my HIDA scan showed "essentially no movement", or gallbladder dykinesia.
ive had pain in my right side for a while now which is why i did the test.
no stones have ever showed up.
i have been given different opinions from docs saying to just take it out or its not a huge finding.
what are your thoughts on that result.
thanks.

With gall bladder issues, the decision is yours. How debilitating is the problem? With my gall bladder, I was in constant agony (with SEVERE pain after meals), nauseated, diarrhea, weight loss, fatigue, achy in upper right quadrant between meals, irritability, etc., etc. I couldn't wait to have mine out - and was glad I did!

Other people on this board have had more problems since their GB was removed. I did end up with bile salt diarrhea from GB removal, but it is under great control now with Colestid.

Only you can make the surgery decision, and determine how much having your gall bladder in is affecting your daily life.

Good luck to you,
Katie G

sometimes i actually think it bothers me more when im not eating, interesting you mention achy between meals. if im nauseaus its in the morning. is that typical?

i can take the pain, even though it hurts almost all the time. i can live with it, but say i want to go exercise, it ends up not happening, usually since my side hurts. know what i mean?

i know surgery is always risky tho and may or may not help. so im torn.

Hi there again. I was nauseated all the time, but then I would force myself to eat so I wouldn't get lightheaded, and then the pain would kick in. It was a vicious cycle. If you're giving up things that you're used to (like exercising) because of your gall bladder, then it's controlling your life. Review other gall bladder posts to get both the negatives/positives of surgery to help you make a decision.

Good luck to you,
Katie G
