Post IBS or appendix

I am probably worrying needlessly, but there seems to be no end. I saw my GI doc several weeks ago for abdominal pain. Have ulcers before and he felt that it was it again. Well the meds helped with the pain below breastbone (most of the time). But still continue with pains lower. Now I am taking Bentyl for the IBS. But, I am still having pain in my right side at end of rib cage. This is getting worse. I have changed my sleeping position, am taking my meds and eating Metamucil wafers. This pain is nearly all the time. This morning it was stonger. I am to see the doc on 9/29 for followup. I hate to call him again since it is not bad enough to go to ER and I do not have fever. But, I have come very close to going to ER. Could thi still be IBS? If it were appendix wouldn't there be fever? Thanks.

I have a similar story to yours. My problem started with stomach ulcers that cleared after a month of treatment but I started having bad upper abdominal pains again and another scope was done but everything looked okay. I have had many tests done and nothing has been found. During all of this, I developed a pain under my ribs. The pain at times goes down towards the end of my ribs. I have had gallbladder and liver tests performed but they were okay. My family doctor thinks that I have this condition where your muscles become separated from your ribs. There is a medical term for it but I can never remember it. My pain is always there but it has never gotten to a severe level. I am taking Limbitrol and Skelaxin. The meds seem to have helped some and I can up the dose if I want but I want to try taking the minimum dosage first.
