I have supposedly had reflux bile gastritis for many years. Is there anyone else who has been diagnosed with this? If so what are your symptoms? I seem to have a lot of upper fullness and bloating with nausea and throat spasms or tightness and build up of saliva in my mouth. I can hardly belch sometimes and other times it seems like that's all I do. Also does is seem to flare up like in the fall or spring and subside at other times? I've been this way for 2 weeks now. I also have IBS - going through a constipation phase right now. Would that make it worse?
Well, your symptoms seem to be very similar to mine. Except I seem to have some shortness of breath (I think because of the fullness/bloating). I just had an endoscopy, and they found bile in my stomach - as well as gastritis. I'm not sure if thats my "offical" dx... but it sounds like it.
I'm on Nexium, which virtually eliminates the pain and burning... but the bloating, upper abdominal fullness, and IBS type symptoms are unchanged.
I do have some shortness of breath too, but figured it was due to the anxiety over the whole situation. I get winded when I carry laundry around or sometimes even making the bed. I am on prevacid, but maybe he will switch me when I go to my 3 month check up in October. My husband is on nexium for really bad heartburn and loves it. Did they suggest carafate (sucralfate)? I am on that too and it supposedly soaks up or binds to the bile salts and stops the diahrrea which I had every morning when I would get up. Now I just have cramps and gas which I guess is the IBS. The carafate causes constipation too so I only take two a day. Maybe I need 4 and extra fiber.
Let me know if you find anything that seems to help or some miracle cure. Sometimes I wish I could pop my stomach to let all the air out. The bloating gets that bad sometimes.
