I went to a new GI doctor yesterday and the doctor is board certified and had pretty good service even though the nurses acted goofy but the doctor was very serious and nice EVEN though he seemed in a rush.
He wants to do a sigmoidoscopy. Has anybody had one of those here? How does it feel and whats goes on? How does it feel afterwards when everything is finished? And what does it feel like to remove polyps. The doctor thinks I might have polyps.
Anyways he also gave me some acidx or something that is similar to prevacid. EVen thought I told him that prevacid does not work for me.
It is not too uncomfotable and after you feel nothing different. It is just a pinch when they remove polyps. For a colonoscopy they usually put you out but not for the sigmoid cause it only goes the lower portion. They may give you a tranquilizer if you are really nervous but won't sedate you. They will stop if it hurt bu it does depend on the Doctor somewhat. Unfortunately I had a colonoscopy without sedation and I would never go thru that again. They were afraid of my lung disease but that was really painful cause they went the whole way. Forget that.
Hi,
I am a huge chicken and I had a sigmoidoscopy without any problem at all. It is pretty quick, in office, and painless. Again, I'm really nervous and I usually freak out with any procedure, but this was one of the easiest I went through. Take care.
