MS and GERD - Digestive Disorders Message Board

Hi,
my name is Lisa and I have been reading your posts for a while now. I really love the way everyone helps everyone here. I was diagnosed with MS in 2001. Been doing pretty good but lately, about a month, I have been having horrible problems with left sided chest pain and heartburn and burping. HAd the EKG and all that was fine. I seem to be unable to eat anything that does not cause me to burp or bring it up a bit later with burning. Also the muscle like pain is from above my left breast from the middle and radiates over to my left shoulder. I go for a barium swallow Friday. Do any of you nice people have any advice or do you think it is MS related or just GERD. Thanks.

I am not familar with all the symptoms of MS but your symptoms sound like acid refux-- GERD!!

I think so too. I have been taking Pepcid over the counter and it has helped some. It has taken the edge off and truly after reading all of the bad side effects from the PPI's I dont think I want those anyway!
