H. Pylori, medication and alcohol... - Digestive Disorders Message Board

I am taking the following to treat H. Pylori, and other digestive problems...

Amoxcillin one, twice a day (500mg each).
Lansoprazole one, twice a day (30mg each).
Clarithromycin, two, twice a day (500mg each).

If I drink alcohol will this affect me badly? Is it bad to drink alcohol while taking these medications?

Anyone been taking the same set of medication before?

I have only just finished a 2 week course similar to yours for H.Pylori. Advice from GP and chemist was defo NO drinking. They said it could make me seriously ill

I wonder with ulcers and on very strong medication to be healed --
Why you would even consider drinking alcohol?

Are you serious about the getting well so you can have a normal life?

Yes, I want to get better! My first and only plan!

Drinking is being scraped!

Also does anyone know how long it takes to heal the esphaugus? I can still feel burning behind breast bone. I don't think my medication treats that area, more treats the stomach, helping acid to stay in my stomach, and not surge up my esphaugus!

Glad to hear that gettig healed is your #1 prioity.

Acid reflux that causes the burning esophagus is caused by a weak Lower Esophageal Sphincter muscle that may never get well.

To reduce acid in your esophagus you could elevate the head of your bed 10 to 15 cms (4 to 6 inches) to reduce acid flow up your esophagus while sleeping and continue to take the acid reducer -- Lansoprazole (Prevacid) until it is healed and you may have to change your diet to a less acid type?

Protonix sometimes works better for this problem?
But there is no clear cut answer ---Everyone is so different with their life style.
