Please someone help me!
Everytime I eat the food gets stuck or feels like it gets stuck then I have a hard time swallowing liquids to get the food to go down.
I am continually losing weight and I can't eat right.
I tried to eat a hamburger tonight and just after the first bite the food felt like it just stopped as soon as I swallow and I had to drink like half a bottle of gatorade to get it to go down and even still there still feels like there is something stuck in my throat.
I have been getting really nauseated a lot here lately.
I bloat up like a huge balloon after just the first bite of food and even just drinking liquids I bloat up.
I have green stool, my stomach burns down really low like around my belly button area but my gastroenterologist says thats too low to be heartburn or acid reflux, he says I would feel that up higher in my chest and esophagus and I don't so he ruled acid reflux out.
I don't get to the point of vomiting but it feels like I could at any minute.
I can't swallow anything and now I am scared that if I throw up anything that I throw up will get stuck coming up and choke me.
I am so scared and I am at my wits end! I don't know what else to do.
I have to stop losing weight! I am currently 128 lbs and I am 5'10".
I have begged my gastroenterologist to stretch my esophagus but he told me looking at my endoscopy that he doesn't see a reason too.
I have had every test that can possibly be done to find out what is going on with me. I've had an endoscopy, colonoscopy, hida scan, ultrasound, cat scan which with that I was allergic to the dyes the drink and the injection so of course without the dye everything on the cat scan was too dark to be seen and the doctor couldn't tell anything from it.
Please help! I just want to be able to eat normally.
I am scared of choking to death when I eat because I can't get the food to go down and I'm now scared of choking to death from throwing up.
Please help. Does anyone have these problems too?
Sounds like you have had the workup. I have two things for you.
1. Find a new doctor who is willing to work until the cause of your troubles is found.
2. If a piece of food gets stuck, try to eat a slice of banana, it is slick and slimy and will usually push down and anything that is stuck. This works great on pills too.
Hi I don't know if I can be any help but I definately experienced what you are talking about. When the food gets stuck I hiccup and eventually vomit. The first time it happened to me I was very pregnant. On and off over the last 9 years I've had at least 50 episodes. Eating fast is impossible for me, and I mostly have this problem when I am stressed or rushed. Soda also seems to stir it up. My doctor said it was reflux. Are you sure it can't be reflux? I have a brother who has this same problem and he was diagnosed with reflux too. I know how frustrated you are and it can be embarrassing too. Its happened in restaurants and other people's homes for me. Generally I feel much better after I vomit. Keep seeing a doctor, but try eating slow, chewing alot, avoid soft drinks when eating, and try to destress- I hope this helps! Good Luck!
I hate to become a broken record, but you sound like you definitely could be suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease, and also/or possibly gastroparesis.
(Sorry, ever since I was diagnosed I've become like a prophet of gastroparesis!)
When you complained of getting full easily even on liquids, that signals the possibility to me. That - which leads to the bloating - plus the nausea could indicate slow stomach.
You mentioned many tests but have you ever had a gastric-emptying scan? This is for gastroparesis.
In the AR board, you mentioned (again) the "burning feeling" around your belly button. Was that ABOVE the button or just "around"? If it's just above, I get that alot and from what I've seen, it's possible for the stomach to reach this low (looking at anatomical figures, which show it to the waist). I don't know but I would press the issue if it is above. This could just be the nausea from gastroparesis, or you could just have gastritis.

This is what I have as well, most of the test I did came out normal(Barium swallow, they had me bring in a sandwich and poured radioactive crap in it and said eat this:-) which the problem just happened to not occur during the tests of course) They did eventually try to stretch my esophagus with the balloon, but he said he didn't think it did much because there was nothing that really needed stretching, weird.
Anyway I though it helped for a while(like 2 months) but then it was worse I never had food stick to the point where I had to vomit until now, (or try to vomit) I get major painful hiccups my body trying to push the food one way or the other. I cannot attempt to swallow anything else no water to help flush it not even spit at that point, or my esophagus will fill past the point that I can breathe(very scary) sometimes the events have lasted up to 30 minutes.
The only thing that helps me these days, is to chew my food till it is nothing more than paste :-( I certainly do not enjoy eating much anymore.
