Re: Activia... does it work????

What conditions does it work for? Does it help with indigestion and acid issues?

i wish i could say it worked for constipation for me, but it doesn't. it does help with indigestion though and i keep it on hand for that.
the only thing that works for constipation for me is senna leaf tea, but I get such severe stomach cramps and diarrhea it's not worth it. so I'm still trying to find something that works without extreme results. any suggestions welcomed.

Re: Activia... does it work????

I am a big believer in taking a water soluble fiber supplement like psyllium --- I now use the Equate brand from Wal Mart. I use the sugar-free Orange flavored powder form that you mix with water and drink promptly.
It is a stool bulking agent and makes me regular w/o very much straining.

It works for me with the type food I eat.

I have used psyllium for 23 years ---daily.

Re: Activia... does it work????

What is different in Activia than in say, Yoplait original flavored yogurts? Does it help w/IBS? Are there any foods or drinks that help calm IBS down?

Re: Activia... does it work????

All yogurts require 2 bacteria cultures to make through fermentation and all brands add an addition culture -- lactobacilus acidophilus but some add many other cultures to help re-establish the bacteria in your gastro tract.

Activia was develop by Dannon to help with making BMs more regular and it does that.

Yoplait yogurt only adds acidophilus. Others yogurts like Stonyfield Farm, and Cascade add many other cultures to help digestion as well as re-establish intestinal bacterias.
