What are these pains? - Digestive Disorders Message Board

I have alot of digestion problems occuring since August 06. I am awaiting an edoscopy and have a colonoscopy booked for March.
I have been having little sharp pains in my left chest area, that are causing me concern. I am pretty sure it is nothing to do with my heart as I have had all that checked out for palps that I was having and all was ok. They come on after eating, so that leads me to digestion problems! I feel them in my left chest area, sometimes the right, but also in my back between shoulder blades. They are not continuous and come and go. At the moment they are every day, but I have just gone a couple of weeks with none!
What could be causing these?

maybe gallbladder? i had my gallbladder removed after a year of having pain that at first seemed like it could be heart related.. it also spreed to between the shoulder blades at times..

Possibly I guess, but I have had an ultrasound of gallbladder and that was fine. I do get pain under ribs on left and right though!

I agree withNikki, could be gallbladder. I've had pain off and on for past 6 yrs, under ribs, r and l. chest pain and between shoulder blades. had first endoscopy and colonoscopy then, they came up with ibs and gerd. put me on nexium and i have alright, still pain on occasion but not every day. I also had sonograms on liver, gallbladder and kidneys then, all were fine.

the stomach pain has become more frequent and accompanied with fatique and major bouts of nausua in the last 6 months or a year. i don't have sharp pain like some on the board, just constant nagging aching.

again took sonogram of gallbladder, was fine, had ct scan, was fine also. went back to gi doc. he scheduled a hidda scan which i had never had before, another colonoscopy and endoscopy. the hidda showed my gb is only functioning at 19%. had the colonoscopy last week, all is well there. the endoscopy is on the 20th. and then on the 6th of march gb surgery.

i am really hoping the surgery will make be feel better because i always have a slightly sick feeling, i guess you'd call it malaise.

but don't just rely on ultrasound. if it continues ask for a hidda. much more reliable in dxing gallbladder problems.

Not sure if you have seen my previous posts, but I've had these pains on the left (behind left breast bone) for a long time. Had all the cardio tests, cardiologists said heart okay. I finally went to Gastro doctor. He did an endoscope. I do have the H Pylori stomach infection, and took antibiotics. But that is not what is causing the pain on the left. I'm scared. I have posted many posts about this. Yours is the first one I've seen that has pains on the left. I am now scheduled for HIDA scan on Friday 16 Feb for gallbladder, but I'm not sure it's the gallbladder either. The gastro doctor also thinks it could be something called "nutcracker esophagus" - he will test me for that later, but I understand the test for pressure on the esophagus is not a comfortable test. I've tried Prevacid. Only seems to make it worse. Today I tried Prilosec and Tums -- I've tried Tylenol, I've tried everything I can think of. The gastro doctor put me on an anti-depressant drug that he says is also a pain killer. That hasn't worked either. it just seems these pains are more frequent. Does occur almost 2 hours after eating. I'm scared to eat too. If you find out what is causing your pains on the left, I would sure appreciate a post stating what it is. I will do the same. Thanks!
