Severe Stomach Burning

I have severe stomach burning in the middle of my stomach. Mostly around my belly button area.
Nothing can soothe the burning when it begins. I take usually 2 prevacid dissolvables and drink gaviscon and it barely touches the burning.
I don't burn up in my throat or esophagus or anywhere else just my stomach.
Then the gas and the passing gas starts in after that.
The next day I either have horrible diarreah or am constipated.
This especially gets worse right before my period.
I am constantly nauseous too. I am always feeling like I'm going to throw up but I am scared to. One because if that is acid in my stomach and I do throw it up it is going to burn like fire coming up and I have a really stupid, strange fear that if I throw up it will get stuck too.
I haven't been able to eat solid foods for a long time. I have swallowing difficulties as well. I can't tell you the last time I ate something like a hamburger or pizza.
I don't have insurance currently and can't afford to see a doctor.
Can anyone relate to how I'm feeling? What is going on with me.

Re: Severe Stomach Burning

OMG I made a big mistake. I was eating some Armour Potted Meat yesterday and today I am sooo sick. I have been nauseous all day and I have horrible diarreah.
I have eaten it before with no problems but today I am really sick plus today I started my period and the burning in my stomach is of course still there.
Does anyone else have this burning in their stomach?
From other posts I have read it sounds like bile reflux from the gallbladder.
I've had a hida scan that showed my gallbladder was filling up too slowly.
That was last year when I last saw my gastroenterologist but he did nothing about it.
I went in for a cat scan, I was supposed to drink this stuff that tasted a bit like bitter crystal light but I had an allergic reaction and couldn't finish it so the cat scan was completely blacked out and the doctor couldn't see anything and because of the allergic reaction with the drink they went ahead and decided not to give me the shot as well for a double contrast which is what it was going to be.
I don't know what to do, I don't know what I can eat that won't make me sick and the burning wont get worse.
Anyone? please help!

Re: Severe Stomach Burning

Have you seen a doctor about this? It could be anything from GERD to gastritis. I have chronic gastritis and suffer with a burning stomach almost daily.

I've had numerous testing and several scopes and was diagnosed ten years ago.

I strongly suggest you get to a doctor, specifically a gastro specialist.

Re: Severe Stomach Burning

Well I've been to one, I saw him for over 2 years with no official diagnosis just a bunch of testing with no answers.
As I said in my post I have no insurance and the office visit fees are horrible and I can't afford it.
I've had a hida scan, every blood test imaginable, cat scan, endoscopy and colonoscopy although that was done 3 years ago when all of this first started so I'd like to definitely have another endoscopy done.
The only thing that was found was mild colitis.
I have dissolvable and capsule prevacid he gave me that I still have a bunch of. I take it every once in a while when the burning gets too bad but it barely helps, it just makes the burning bareable.
I don't know what do to. I just want to eat normally again. I want to be able to swallow solid foods and I can't. I now have a mental block that I am so afraid whenever I get a diagnosis and get whatever this is healed that my mind won't let me eat normally again. I'll still get sick and choke on solids.
Now I am even freaked out about having another endoscopy done when I finally get insurance again and I'm able to go to a different gastroenterologist to have this done. I want to have my esophagus dialated to see if this will help.
I've heard horror stories about the endoscopy right before when they numb your throat with that nasty spray. What if it goes down the wrong hole into your windpipe? Has this ever happened to anyone. I mean you a lying down when they begin spraying that stuff in the back of your throat and I can't swallow easily that way, although the first time I did fine, now I'm hearing of people choking by accidentally swallowing the wrong way and then it numbs the wrong pipe and you can't breathe. What would or could they actually do if this happened?

Re: Severe Stomach Burning

When I have bouts with diarreah and stomach pain, I always grab some good low-fat yogurt. Its something my mom taught me a while back. The same kind of bacteria imbalance that causes yeast infections can cause stomach and digestive problems. It seems to help me out a lot and the smell and look of it doesn't make me sick or anything.
The best bet would still be to try and see a doctor, but try the yogurt because it definately works for me.

I've had several scopes, at least 6 in the past ten years and yes, they do spray your throat but it's not horrible. The sedation they give you, in my opinion, is great. You feel and remember nothing - that's why it's very important to have someone with you - you won't be able to drive yourself.

To me, the scope is the easiest part so don't let that stop you

Re: Severe Stomach Burning

I've had a scope but its been so long ago. I had one about 3 years ago now when all of these stomach problems first started.
My swallowing problems, burning stomach etc.. have really intensified since I've had the scope though.
I am scared to have another one, I am scared of swallowing the medicine and what if it goes down my windpipe and I choke on it? It will numb my windpipe then I can't breath. I am so paranoid and I have severe anxiety.
I am scared that I'll never be able to eat normally again, its been so long since I have eaten real solid food.
As soon as I get some money together I'm going to go to a different gastroenterologist.
Also when I get severe burning in my stomach usually after I get very very tired and have to lie down and relax and take a nap. This can't be normal.
I am hoping everything will come to light and it will be something simple like my gallbladder, remove it and poof my problems will be gone. Just an example. I hope it is something simple and cureable though. I can't keep living this way another 3 years or the rest of my life living on mushy foods and supplements.
What is going on with that, any ideas?
