h pylori questions - Digestive Disorders Message Board

has anyone been treated for H-pylori and was tested negative for it when endocsope was done but still had problems with stomach and vomiting? A breath was not done! Can one still have hyplori???

My son has had stomach problems for 2 1/2 years. He has has gastric emptying done and it DID show slow emptying he is on domperidone for that instead of Reglan(caused him to have more seizures), he had had a small bowel test and it was negative. He does have gastric reflux and on Nexium for that...he has a hitatial hernia,also that was seen on endoscope and peptic ulcers. He still was getting sick and vomiting every other day so his doctor started an antibiotic call ERY tablets.
He can't take the antibiotic that is given for Hyplori.

SINCE he does have seizures we are also looking into maybe the problem with one of the two he takes (Depokate and Tegretol) His neuro cut back on Tegretol today to see if this would help. Over the last 2 1/2 years his stomach problems have gotten worst...so I am guessing this is why they are treating him for Hyplori???

We see the GI doctor the 24th SO I am hoping he can give me a better understanding....thanks to this board I have TONS of questions for him.

I was treated for the bacteria and still suffered afterward. The treatment did a number on my stomach.... They then thought that I had an ulcer but the endoscopy showed negative and they did a biopsy for the HP bacteria and it came back negative. I had gastris so maybe your son has that too. His constant vomiting and sickness could also be a side effect from his meds.

One thing that I found, per my gastrologist, is that once your blood tests positive for HP, it always will. A breathe test would be needed or if doing an endoscopy, the tissue biopsy will confirm.

I seem to be replying to so many of these q's today. I had pos. results for pylori a few years ago.What the docs don't tell you is that you need probiotics to rebuild your stomach to its natural 'good' bacteria state. I take acidophilus 3x daily when mine acts up. After neurosurgery and its massive antibiotic regime, my stomach was awful...acidophilus helped me greatly.
