I'm having an endoscopy on Friday morning. I've read about how safe it is . . .but now that it's getting closer, I'm getting more nervous. Is an endoscopy test really surgery?
I am allergic to codeine and the surgeon said he was going to give me a mild narcotic with the sedative. The procedure doesn't scare me half as bad as the medicine. Should I be worried? My biggest fear is I will have a reaction to the stuff.
Any advice, experiences or words of encouragement are greatly appreciated, guys. Thanks for your help and God bless you all!
I just had my endoscopy last Weds. I am the biggest scaredy cat in the world and I made it! I was terrified when I was wheeled into the exam room. You wont feel a thing after, just a little groggy. As for the medicine, I dont think it should be a problem. Im pretty sure your doc and the nurses will watch you carefully.
The endoscopy is not a surgery, but a procedure. Let us know what happens!
Hang in there!
Guys, did you feel anything during the test? Was there any pain or can you fell the tube going down? I was also wondering when the medicine will wear off. I have three little ones that need Mommy wide awake. =)
