Q re: diarrhea and food
In my other post I talked about my difficulties with food, so if anyone would like further background please check that it might be helpful. Basically I'm struggling to eat much of anything due to feeling extreme fullness early on, bloating and when I do eat it can cause pain and nausea. I've been surviving basically on liquids and little amounts of food here and there.
In the last month I've had 3 episodes of diarrhea that have lasted between 3 days to a week each time. I am not sure what is going on with that but the last 2 days I've been eating a bit more "real food" and today have now started the diarrhea again. I'm starting to think it's almost related to either what I'm eating or just that real food is being eaten. Yesterday I had some toast and an egg in the morning, vegetable soup at lunch and then nothing but liquids the rest of the day. Today had a sandwich around lunch time and some tuna casserole at dinner. That's actually a vast improvement over what is my usual. I had to really force it in though. It was after dinner that the diarrhea started.
I don't have a diagnosis yet but personally I think it's possibly gastroparesis. Just based on symptoms and reading about others'. Appt. coming up December 26th. If that is what I have is it possible the diarrhea is related? Or is it possible to have 2 conditions? Such as IBS and gastroparesis? Or is it more likely related to what i'm eating? Or just that when "real food" goes in to my stomach it doesn't know what to do with it and it causes diarrhea somehow? Lots of questions, sorry! I've tried the anti-diarrheal medications available at the store but it never helps much, it usually just passes on it's own.
