Hey, so I have been experiencing pain in my lower left abdomen for some time. It comes and goes but it always very painful. I have researched it a bit but I can never find anything that fits it. Sometimes I feel that side and it is slightly swollen. I've had it on and off for probably around 6 months. I'm not even in my 20's yet, can I still be having problems like this? And does anyone else have any clue or tip as to what it might be???
Re: Pain in lower left abdomen....can anyone help???
Are you having any other symptoms or is it only the pain? Can you describe the pain? How long does it last? How often do you get it?
Have you been to an ob/gyn? A lot of times, women's lower abdominal pain can be caused by problems like ovarian cysts, fibroids, etc. I've even had bad abdominal pain from normal monthly ovulation.
Honestly tho, seeing a dr is probably a good idea.
Re: Pain in lower left abdomen....can anyone help???
I've got pain in the lower left quadrant and several years ago I went to see my PCP. He referred me to a GI doc who ran a series of tests and gave me the diagnoses of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Mine is so bad at times I'm on pain medications for it. This also slows the gut and helps the IBS. A lot of times it's triggered by high stress situations. For me, it was my job.
I am now, after several years, on Social Security Disability for it and other medical problems. My advice is to see your doctor. Start with your PCP or Gyno and then see a good GI doctor, if you haven't found out what's going on with your gut.

I have had the same problem for about 2 yrs now and have finally found out what was wrong. It was my galbladder. Have them do a Hida scan which will indicatesthe percentage the galbladder is functioning. I know it sounds weird because the pain should be on the right side but with some people it radiates to the left side. My galbladder was only functioning at 30% and they said when they got in there they were really glad they took it out or it would have gotton alot worse. So believe me when I tell u I feel your pain. Go back to the dr!!
