Life after Giardia

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Giardia over a year ago. After taking the necessary medication to kill the bug, I remain lactose and I think fructose intolerant to this day. I have had to severely limit the kinds of foods that I can eat, and I can't help wondering if I am missing something. Have others experienced similar conditions after recovering from Giardia? Any ideas as to why Giardia would cause permanent changes like this to a digestive system? Is there anything that can be done other than not eating anything with milk or fruit substances? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

John
