Extreme upper right pressure losing weight enlarged lymph nodes
Hey guys I'm hoping maybe someone on this forum can shed some light on my problem I am a 22 year old male. The start of Dec. 2007 I was feeling pretty good. I was excited to begin the next semester, I had a good job, a fair amount of money, and an overall positive outlook on life. I had been suffering from chronic fatigue however I was a smoker and a regular user of cannabis at the time and simply attributed my tiredness to that, never saw a doctor about it (I hadn't had a checkup in over 4 years, which was with my pediatrician). One week into Dec. I started feeling light dicomfort in my scrotum which turned into blinding pain that didn't allow me to walk. Was diagnosed with Epididymitis given Relafen and Doxy and sent on my way. During the recovery period I had fever and chills which are characteristic of the condition however, as the scrotal discomfort waned my abdomen started to feel more and more bloated a feeling under my right rib cage and a smaller pressure under my left. Towards the center of December I started to feel more and more under the weather and gave up smoking both cannabis and cigarettes to see if things improved. One day I was resting in my house and noticed it was 5 pm and I had not eaten anything and didn't even notice. The next day I was feeling my neck and noticed a large bump which I thought at the time was a lymph node and another smaller lump on the side of my neck both of which are painless. My loss of appetite continued and when I did eat my abdomen felt full and bloated after eating small amounts. I had regular stools (2 or 3 times daily) that seemed to frequently be floating and be quite large in size (sometimes as large as 2 ft. long) all solid. I finally went to see a doctor after the abdominal symtoms did not subside and he ran blood tests that all came back saying I'm in impecable health good red and white cell counts (which was a relief to me seeing as I feared I might have Leukemia) good cholesterol, good thyroid function, etc. Also ran three hemato-fecal samples that came back negative for blood. I have been feeling better than I was but the feverish feeling comes and goes frequently (for instance I will feel good for the first 6 hours of the day and then lose all energy by the end) but when I take my temp. I come out normal if a little low (e.g. 97.8-98.5) this is using multiple thermometers. This is not psychological I have never been sick for more than 3 days in my entire life so this is very troubling to me. I ruled out Mononucleosis previously because I haven't had a sore throat and the nodes on the back of my head are the few that I cannot find (as all my my nodes are slightly enlarged and do not hurt) but I hear that a sore throat is not always the case with Mono. I have been drinking Ensure Plus to get some weight on me as I have lost 10 lbs over the course of 6 weeks (135 to 125 and 5'11 however I have always been thin as it runs in the family). On top of everything else about 2 weeds ago I've been experiencing leg weakness sometimes manifesting as pain in my left leg from the knee down which seems to stem from the bone. I'm not looking for a definitive answer I just don't want to find out I have something serious til its too late (two of my friends were recently diagnosed with cancer, testicular and colon). I have started eating really healthily (fruits, raw veggies, Ensure, whole grains) to try and pick up my energy level as I just started a new semester and am taking 16 credit hours all of which are upper division courses. I took a month off of work to try and recover however I only have 2 weeks left of that and am not getting much better. What could cause my frequent changes in energy levels be? I feel fine one moment and the next I feel like curling up into a ball. Also recently I've been experiencing neck pain which seems to be an extremely stiff neck (two days ago I had to ice it down). It is not depression which is what my doctor seems to keep implying, I am anxious but the anxiety is an effect of my illness rather than the cause. I know all of these symtoms do not seem life threatening however, together they make me worry. Does this sound like Mono? Lymphoma? Hepatitis A? I have been having issues with sleep as I seem to wake frequently for no apparent reason. Any tests I should ask for? My doctor has done external physical examinations to see if he feels an enlarged spleen, but my rib cage seems to go down too far for him to tell definitively.
