My small bowel x ray only took about 30 minutes. Is this normal? Then they did some other test where they put a paddle directly over the bowel and took an xray, is all this normal. I have no diahrea or severe stomach problems which make me need to run to the bathroom. Why would mine only take 30 minutes when it can take up to 4 hours?

Not sure why yours was so fast, but the paddle at the end is a normal part of the test.

I was told that the test would take anywhere from 30 minutes to five hours, depending on how quickly the barium moved through your small intestine. My tech told me yesterday that there aren't very many lucky ones who get out of there in 30 or so minutes. Guess you are one of those lucky ones!!!

Did you just have the test performed or have you gotten your results? I had mine yesterday and am awaiting my results. Best of luck!

Mine went thru in 20 minutes. The tech was amazed. That was before Christmas and I still haven't sat down with the GI dr to discuss what it showed. I had a colonoscopy a week later and he said then we'd talk about it at the follow up visit. I didn't know it wasn't scheduled til March! Guess no news is good news. Anyway, 20-30 minutes is about how long it takes what I eat to go thru so I wasn't surprised.
