still get pain after gb surgery

had my gall bladder out 8 weeks ago but i still keep getting what feels like gb attacks. the pain is horrendous and i am frequently woken up by it. they last between 5-30 minutes. the surgeon said that these 'little' pains usually disappear after a couple of months. i wish i knew what was causing them as im fed up with it.

Re: still get pain after gb surgery

You no longer have a gb to help you digest fats. The bile duct they left is trying to take its place. It can't do it overnight. That's why you should be on a fat free diet at first...to give it time to slowly learn to take over. If you ingest fats too soon, it can cause pain.

Of course, there are other things it could be - a stone stuck in the bile duct, etc. But your doctor should be able to ascertain the exact problem.
