Xylitol and gut problem

The sugar substitute "Xylitol" according to my internet research, lines the digestive system with a "teflon like" coating on which bacteria cannot attach.
Thus the bacteria is flushed out thereby decreasing chances of colon cancer. My concern is that the "good" bacteria is also flushed out, leaving no bacteria.
How can this be good?
